I am going apeshit because I don't know anything about Java… ZilinaSK on 10/12/2019 at 10:30 I still find this use of Google Street View stunning to this day… love the music 🙂It's a shame that the website is no more as making your own Street View Hyperlapse video was fun 🙂 D G on 10/12/2019 at 10:30 This is AMAZING, and also something I've been WISHING upon WISH that someone would develop and make available for the genpop to use! The very first time I laid eyes on the first beta version of street view, I remember spending hours roaming the streets of the limited areas that were captured in their entirity.. and I remember thinking 2 things.. #1, I told myself.. wow.. this is going to single handedly help to push forward a BUNCH of technologies from digital imaging, data storage, browser/gpu and graphics capabilities, and potentially even compression and bitrate and data transfer efficiency in browsers and web servers alike! And #2, I can't wait to see the evolution of this new technology, and to watch the rendering become smoother, and the image output in higher resolution.. and shure as shit.. every couple of months, the street view team would send out a press release, and they would canvas a new city or town using their new standards, and the results would amaze me! The images became more stunning and would be stitched together more clealy. Once it hit a point where something like this video was possible, I thought.. it's only a matter of time now, before this tech is adapted for wider cinimatic purpose! I thought we were going to start seeing amazing hyperlapse renderings being used in promotional videos, and maybe even as backgrounds for chroma-keyd "driving" scenes.. or that the street view team themselves would release a beta version of some sort of "fly-by" feature, where you could preview your trip/route on Google Maps by clicking a little "render" button.. then after an impossibly short period of time (because.. well.. Google) we'd have a big, white, play button magically fade in, on the center of our phones screen, and once we clicked play, a little transport bar would appear along the bottom edge, a sped-up version of our trip would start playing on screen, perhaps even with a transparent map along the right hand side of the video, illustrating the exact point along the route that's was currently being shown in the video. I imagined you could grab the transport bar, and slide it left or right to zoom forward or backwards on your route. It sounds like a useless feature, but I think it would be very useful to quickly "preview" your trip, before you set out. Especially if the hyperlapse we're to automatically "slow down" each time it encountered key points like off ramps, turns, or interchanges. Well, it looks like we'll never get this feature.. at least not for a LONG time, as the street view function is indeed a staple in the maps worlds, it is however, am expensive, and not very profitable one. I've even heard Google execs say that they have given serious thought to ending the street view project, or at least cutting back on it's funding, which would limit it's development and definitely reduce how often it's updated for sure. It just turns out that not many people found a viable use for it, outside of the gimmick, or fun of playing with it. Brian Matt on 10/12/2019 at 10:30 hell yeah. i've been coming back to this video for the last 3 years because i am never not moved to re-think our world and re-think how we see and experience it………. plus, madonna said it simplest: music makes the people come together. this is visual music.
